Welcome to BIG CHURCH- the one where we’re All-in!

The service this morning will be led by the BIG CHURCH team with help from some familiar friends! A warm welcome is extended to any visitors and you are invited to stay for a cuppa after our time of family worship together. The author of 1 Samuel tells us, in chapter 3 verse 10:

The LORD came and stood there, calling as at the other times, ‘Samuel! Samuel!’

Then Samuel said, ‘Speak Lord, for your servant is listening.’

WHAT?

Today, we’ll be finding out about listening to God, through the story of Samuel, and how we can do this today.

HOW?

Through Cod’s Word, music, drama, discussion, being still, moving, dance, creating, thinking, writing, not writing, watching, listening…and more!

PREPARE…

Come ready to meet and be changed by God and grow in relationship with Him.

PRAY…

That the Holy Spirit will inspire and challenge you and that Jesus will be the focus of all our worship.

FINALLY…

Please fill up the church from the front and get ready to ‘Go BIG!’

ALL-IN SYNC

SING

Adam and the band will lead sung worship on the theme of God’s awesome power. Please move to the ‘band’ side of the church if you’re able to.

CREATE

Make a communication system with Neil on the platform.

MOVE

Join in with blindfold obstacle course and other listening games in the hall. This activity will be led by Caro and David.

WRITE

Write a prayer regarding something you really want to hear from God about. Add it to the prayer board and watch what he does in response.

DISCUSS

Use the questions in the news sheet as the basis for discussion, led by Chris B in the lobby.

THINK

Think about and make a personal response to the questions in the news sheet. You may wish to stay in the sanctuary or go into the Café, for a quiet thinking space.

Looking at 1 Samuel 3, talk/think about these questions…

  • Why do you think Samuel had trouble discerning between Eli’s voice and God’s? (v4-8)
  • How can we tell the difference between God’s voice and other voices, including our own?
  • Why is the attitude, ‘Speak, for your servant is listening’ (v 10) so important in order to hear from God?
  • What is the greatest obstacle that prevents you from hearing God’s voice

Rainbows – Volunteers needed!

Our Rainbows meet on a Wednesday afternoon and this year need some help to keep the ratios of unit helpers to girls at the right level. Do think if you or someone you know could help at this great activity. For more details please see Jenny Giles or Lauren Rycroft. Thanks 🙂
