This morning we celebrate communion together.

If you recognise God’s love for you then please join us as we share bread and non-alcoholic wine. Jason continues the series from the first couple of chapters of Revelation and is talking about the church in Sardis, ‘comfortably numb’. Lauren leads our music and our kids sessions in Powerbase start after the first part of the service.

Where has David Rockall been? Golf? No!

The Latvian Bible College. There is a long history of evangelism in Riga, the capital of Latvia, but this all came to an end when the communists took over the country in 1940. The bible college was closed by soviet forces; to start with it was made into flats and then it was left to rack and ruin.

William Fetler (1883-1957) was a church planting evangelist and the church in Riga had a vision to refurbish the building and rename it after him.

The building was three-stories with no roof, windows or internal walls but well situated in the city centre in an area of deprivation.

The current bible college is in rented accommodation and Rev John Wood of Lancing Tabernacle is a visiting lecturer. Thus the connection through James Aylwood to David Rockall and this is where they and six other chaps have been for the last week. They went last year to do building work and this year they saw great progress: the windows are in, the floors are there and they fitted the internal walls.

The new building will be four stories high and multi-functional. It will include a basement area for youth work, a lecture theatre, office space and accommodation for students and lecturers.

Next year they hope it will be open and we will be able to view it in it’s restored glory.
