Hope for Children in Latvia
The trip
From Friday 21st June till Wednesday 26th 7 of us will be venturing out to Latvia to offer support and some really practical help for Helen and her team at Hope For Children Latvia http://www.hope.lv/
There will be a lot of practical work done at the main centre in Riga, the capitol of Latvia, including redecorating, building shelves and cupboard space in two rooms used for storage and the main reception. As well as this extensive work, some of us will be visiting the family day centre in Bolderaja, 15 km from the capitol, where we will not only see the work the charity does there but get involved too.
Thank you all for your continued encouragement and for taking Helen and the work she does to your hearts. The response to the fund raising has been phenomenal and such a blessing. Please pray for the safety of all of us and for the work Helen so tirelessly does in Latvia.
The funds
So far, from all the different events we have raised an amazing £2,239. This doesn’t include Gift Aid, the ploughmans or the 10k run money but wow, What an amazing amount, praise God!
If you still owe money for Barbara’s walk or Sharon & Lauren’s run then please do giveit to the relevant event people or by BACs to the church with a reference to the event. If you’re still able then as the summer starts to heat up in Latvia and it does get very hot, the children need simple light footwear and Helen has asked if we can supply some child flip flops or Croc shoes. Any size is appreciated.
We will need them by Friday 21st June so we can take them over to Latvia on our working trip , so if you could bring them on a Sunday or leave them under the notices table at the back of the church during the week. Thanks to all you amazing children of God.
A Grand Day Out
Saturday 13th July 10am — 9:00pm
Cost: £5 per adult (18+) to be paid for in advance of the day.
You will need to sign up on the sheet at church so we know numbers for the BBQ and can plan for and make enough age appropriate activities.
Theme: Colossians 1:15-23 “All things were created through Christ and for him”
If the weather is looking wet we will decide on the Friday before if it will be run at church instead.
Although we can’t camp this year and have the usual weekend away together, we can still have a wonderful day of fellowship in the beautiful, peaceful setting that is Champs Hill campsite so please come ready to have fun, to enjoy each other’s company and to encounter God and a way that is unique to this place.
