It’s great to welcome you here, whether visitor or regular!

Our Powerbase youngsters have had some monstrous fun during August and are taking over our service on the 1st September as they tell us all about it. Thanks to Jenny, Andrea and the team for this.

Jason is now on his sabbatical, so in the first instance please contact our Secretary, Paul Stender if you need anything. Whilst Jason is away we are enjoying a number of different voices leading us and this month we will be looking in particular at selected passages from Jeremiah.

  • 8th September Colin Philips -Jeremiah 18v-11
  • 15th September Andrew Groves – Jeremiah 4v11,12, 22-28. This is also our regular monthly communion service.
  • 22nd September Simon Napper – Jeremiah 8v18 – 9v1
  • 29th September Our 5th Sunday of the month service led by Chris where our youngsters stay with us for the whole service.

We declare that Jesus is Lord in our prayers, praise, as we explore God’s word, over refreshments after our service and throughout our lives. Please do talk with one of our welcome team should you want to know more about any aspect of our church life together here at Broadwater Baptist.

Homegroups

We have a number of small groups that meet regularly to socialise, look out for each other and to get to grips with our Christian faith. These are a key part of our bigger church life together and we’d encourage anyone who’s not been along to one to try them out. The deacons or those leading the services will be able to let you know more. During Jason’s sabbatical the youth homegroup and the regular group that meets at the manse will be meeting at Gerren and Sarah’s home. The youth group will be from 7:30 for an 8pm start.

We’re also pleased that a new daytime group is starting up in September, led by Gill Whelan. This group will have it’s first meeting at 2pm on 25th September in the Anchor Lounge at church. If you can’t be a part of the group then do please pray for them as they start up. For more details please contact Gill.

Clothes Swap Shop

On Saturday 28th of September between 10am and 4pm, Karyn will be holding a Clothes Swap Shop in aid of the Friends “SWAP of Mombasa Children. This will be open to the public but any clothes left will be available for you all to have another look at after church on Sunday 29th

Karyn has held Swap Shops many times before and they are always very successful, a lot of fun! You could come away with a whole new wardrobe!

How it works…

Clothes etc are donated, put on hangers and displayed. People come along and choose as many items as they like to take away. Although it is mainly female clothes, she is happy to take children’s and gents. Money is made by donations for the clothes etc.

 How can you help…

  • If there is anyone free to help transport all the clothes, rails etc from Karyn’s flat to the church by 4pm on Friday 27th she would be very grateful. There will be several car loads.
  • Help hanging up the clothes. There will be lots to go on hangers and put on rails. A perk of this is you’d be first to see what there is!
  • Help on the Saturday for an hour or so would be gratefully received.
  • Two small gazebos that can be used as changing rooms. If you have one or two you could lend that would be marvellous!
  • A long, free standing mirror – do you have one you could lend for the
  • Clothes, bags, footwear – good quality items that you no longer want. A great reason to have a clear out!

Please let Karyn know if you are able to help or donate anything. You can see her in church, phone or email her.

It would also be brilliant if we could run coffee shop on the day, and Karyn would like ALL monies taken from sales of tea, coffee and cakes to go Hope for Children in Latvia.

To do this would require donations of cakes to be sold and people to Volunteer to serve teas and coffees. So if you can volunteer to help with this element of the event, please let Lauren or Karyn know.
